Louth Playgoers – Investors In Education
Playgoers Award

Louth Playgoers has always invested in young people and this year the strong ties that bond us with education in the local community was officially recognised. On 27th March 2008, Chairman John Lill attended the Investors in Education Award Event which was held at Lincoln Drill Hall. The evening was organised by the Education Business Partnership of Lincolnshire and Rutland to mark the successful partnerships between local business and schools. On behalf of Playgoers, John accepted the handsome award and certificate, which was presented to celebrate Playgoers’ partnership with local schools through the work experience opportunities it offers to young people in the area.

The prestigious award was warmly received, but the work experience programme is not the only way in which Louth Playgoers welcomes young people to Riverhead Theatre. The enthusiasm to share in the joy of theatre has no age limit and is extended to even the very young. Playgoers’ Paintbox Theatre provides fertile ground for even more fertile imaginations, offering opportunities for children to express themselves and gain confidence, whilst having tremendous fun. When they reach the age of 11, many move on to Wharfingers’ Youth Theatre, where they will broaden and deepen their understanding, taking in every aspect of stage performance from lighting and sound to props and costume. From here, some are inspired to forge a career in the arts, but each and every one of them takes valuable experiences with them, irrespective of where they go and what they do in life.

There can be very few investment opportunities better than those which involve young people. As an Investor in Education, Playgoers is also investing in the future.
