Animal Farm

The play of George Orwell’s novel, adapted by Peter Hall, Lyrics by Adrian Mitchell. Music by Richard Peaslee

Presented by Wharfingers Youth Theatre

Our award-winning youth theatre group, Wharfingers, directed by Carole Ashcroft and Helen Appleton, puts a fresh slant on Orwell’s classic satire in this high energy musical dramatisation. When the four-legged inhabitants of Manor Farm rise up against the farmer, nothing will ever be the same again – or will it? The story is a powerfully quirky metaphor for the Russian Revolution and it invites us to look beyond the farmyard crisis to a world of hopes, dreams, deception and greed which is altogether more human. Peter Hall’s adaptation of the novel is asentertaining as it is thought provoking and will appeal on many levels to a wide audience.
