|
Wharfingers Youth Theatre was founded in 2002 and is part of Louth Playgoers Society. Our aim is to give young people with a love of the theatre the opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills and, above all, to have fun! Everyone between the ages of 11 and 18 is welcome and there are no auditions or any special entry requirements, other than enthusiasm and commitment. Wharfingers have their very own website: |

Involvement in Children’s Theatre is fun and a great way to spend Saturday mornings. At this level we have an integrated approach to the performing arts (drama, dance and music) and aim to nurture in children an interest and love of theatre. They develop confidence and the ability to focus, relax and feel comfortable in front of an audience, where the foundations are laid for learning drama skills and technique in future years.
Paintbox Theatre serves two age groups: Age 5 – 8 running from 9.30am to 11.15 am Age 8 – 11+ running from 11.45am to 1.30pm
We aim to have each group working towards a production at all times with a nativity and pantomime at Christmas, a large cast musical in April and an end of year summer variety show. Our ethos centres on giving all children a chance, in an environment inclusive of all abilities.
Staff members are: Abigail Wood - Teacher of many years experience but now works from home writing material for educational publishing company. Daisy Brickett – Student at King Edwards Scott Royle – Student (Performing arts specialist) Laura Burns – Music specialist. Forthcoming ProductionsIn December this year our youngest children performed a Nativity called ‘Keeping Mr Inn at the Inn,’ and the older ones put together a short Roald Dahl inspired pantomime called ‘The Truth About Goldilocks And Friends.’ At Easter we are putting on a musical ‘The Seven Sided Dice,’ which involves both age groups. The older children will take the leading roles and the younger children will support with dancing and singing. It tells the story of four children trapped in game land where they have to pit their wits against the evil Lady Fortune. It promises to be lots of fun!
